Inventory management solution for warehouses

Requirement

Develop an Android app for reading RFID tags using a Zebra 8500 scanner. He already had a system where users could enter a ‘Receiving Transaction’ (Item No., Quantities, and Vendor Lot No.) into the ERP System. Corresponding RFID labels are printed and are manually attached to the products. An inventory management system is to be built to ensure there is no mismatch between the count of inventory in their warehouse and their ERP system.

Solution

The users can scan the products using a Zebra 8500 scanner and an Android application. This would confirm that all tags produced are read. He wanted to develop a secure application for inventory management to support reading “Gen 2 UHF RFID tags”. These tags and their data will be stored in a Microsoft SQL database. The system must support local data storage and a ‘message queue’ in case the device can’t connect to Wi-Fi /SQL server. In this case, the data would need to be stored locally and then transmitted, when the device is able to connect to the Wi-Fi/SQL server in question.

We developed an android app for inventory management and stock adjustment which enabled users to scan the barcode label attached to the inventory. When the user scans an item, the application will provide the count, location and remaining quantity available within the warehouse. We included a provision to manually scan items where required. The discrepancies could be avoided by manually adjusting the stock quantity in the mobile application to match the actual quantity in the warehouse. They can maintain a trade-off between the quantities by using the application.
