Requirement:​

Our client, a leading company in the access control systems industry in Canada, wanted to enhance their existing equipment management platform to offer a more intuitive, and feature-rich IoT dashboard experience. They needed a solution that would allow their end-users to monitor and control access to heavy-duty vehicles, ensure OSHA safety compliance through digital checklists, manage operators and equipment, and receive automated reports. The updated platform also needed to support secure, scalable connectivity with the devices and provide a seamless experience for managing system users and configurations.

Solution​

We modernized the client’s existing IoT platform into a fully managed, serverless dashboard powered by AWS. Using a combination of AWS IoT Core, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3, we developed a robust and scalable backend with the Chalice framework for rapid development and deployment. The solution enabled bidirectional communication between the ESP32-based access control devices and the dashboard, supporting OTA firmware updates and real-time status reporting. Additional features included automated report generation with email delivery, user and device management by administrators, and AWS IoT device provisioning mechanisms tailored to support field-level deployment and intermittent connectivity.We also designed a Flutter-based mobile application for visualization and control.
